As a "freeloader", I can't do real critiques, but I think this shot deserves serious comment. I spotted it when someone faved both your shot and one of my otter shots, and my first response was that it's an awesome shot.

The image of the otter is flawless. The composition, focus, and depth are perfect, and the direct gaze and expression are priceless. After looking at it for a while, I realized something was bothering me about it, though. Eventually, I realized it was the bright areas of the background. They compete for attention by being as bright as the otter's light fur. If you could dim them a bit, this would be an even better shot.
